Films Wanted! Langston Hughes African American Film Festival



The Langston Hughes African American Film Festival is an annual Seattle event showcasing independent black filmmakers and films about the African American experience.

The festival will take place this year from April 14 – 22, 2012 and they just recently announced an open call for entries! Details below.
If you have something that fits the bill you might consider submitting. Deadline is February 4 2012.

Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center (LHPAC) in Seattle, Washington, USA presents its 9th annual Langston Hughes African American Film Festival-LHAAFF, Call for Work inviting independent film entries for our April 14 – 22, 2012 film festival.

Genres/Subject Areas: narrative, documentary, children’s, youth-made movies, shorts, LGBT, experimental, animation. Filmmakers do not have to be Black, but films should include significant, relevant content involving Black people: seeking diverse, multifaceted stories and positive images. Non-English language films must have subtitles. No fundraising or training films will be considered.

Submission Guidelines: Please send 2 preview copies in NTSC format on DVD. Films originating in languages other than English must have English subtitles. Films are reviewed by a jury process.

Entry Fee: $25 USD; Make checks payable to Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center. Include a postage paid envelope if you want your work returned. ALL preview copies must be clearly marked with your name and contact information. A $50 honorarium is paid for films accepted and screened. You will be notified by email if your film is accepted to the festival; film awards are determined after the end of the festival. The LHPAC/LHAAFF reserves the right not to grant awards within any film category if sufficient votes & evaluations are not given to any film. Please notify us if you have simultaneously submitted your film to other Seattle-area festivals.
